On behalf of the company, we now invite a bright professional to join a friendly and professional engineering team in Estonia in the position of: ECCS Automation Engineer.
In this role, you will play a key part in the design and development of advanced control systems for major railway electrification projects. You will work closely with international experts and local stakeholders, ensuring that complex automation solutions are correctly specified, programmed and commissioned, and that they fully meet technical, safety and regulatory requirements.
Main Responsibilities:
- Design and develop control systems (ECCS) for railway electrification projects, and related systems such as DCS (power plants), SAS (substations) and EMS (TSO dispatch centers).
- Program and configure automation and control systems.
- Define industrial network architectures and communications, ensuring robust and reliable system integration.
- Work with digital communication protocols for control/electrical systems (e.g. IEC 61850, IEC 60870‑5‑104, DNP3, Ethernet Modbus, fieldbus protocols).
- Work with telecommunication protocols and technologies (e.g. MPLS, PRP, HSR, RSTP).
- Ensure conformity of ECCS design with local legislation, standards and European TSI (Technical Specifications for Interoperability) in railway/energy.
- Apply and support cybersecurity principles in OT/control systems, aligned with ISA/IEC 62443 and IEC 62351.
- Participate in testing, validation and commissioning of control systems, providing technical support on site when required.
- Provide technical coordination within the project team and with other disciplines.
- Be available for occasional coordination travel related to project needs.
Requirements:
- Degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
- Experience in automation within electrification projects, preferably in railway projects (experience with control systems such as DCS is an advantage).
- Hands-on experience in control systems programming and configuration.
- Understanding of industrial communication networks and digital communication protocols for control/electrical systems; experience with telecom protocols (MPLS, PRP, HSR, RSTP) is an advantage.
- Interest or experience in cybersecurity for OT/control systems is considered a plus.
- Language skills: English at minimum B2 level (spoken and written); Estonian language skills are a strong advantage, as the specialist will work in Estonia.
